The windows shaped the layout.

At Saks Fifth Avenue in New York, the sidewalk shed needed to respect the store’s display windows as well as the space beneath the structure.

The brief: let the windows lead.

The customer wanted supports spaced every two window panels so they would not interrupt the displays. That storefront requirement shaped the layout.

The response: spans fitted to the requirement.

ANDAMIO configured the spans around the requested spacing, positioning the supports in relation to the windows. The installation shows how a specific customer requirement can guide a sidewalk shed layout within the project’s engineering constraints.

The experience beneath.

The photographs also show the generous pedestrian passage alongside the storefront. Display visibility, entrances, and the public’s experience all belong in the conversation about a sidewalk shed.
